There are many ways to contribute your time and talent to Girls on the Run!
Coaching offers the most interaction with the incredible girls who participate in Girls on the Run. Each coach possesses infectious enthusiasm, strong character, and the joyful spirit necessary to educate and motivate girls. All share the desire to work with girls from different races, cultures, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and to prepare each girl for a healthy adolescence and adulthood. Become a Coach today!
Share a girl's excitement and enormous sense of accomplishment as she crosses the finish line of her first 5K run. Each Running Buddy is paired with a girl for one practice plus the final event – the Girls on the Run 5k – for a total commitment of two times. This adult runs by her side, encouraging her to do her best while also recognizing and respecting her limits. Become a Running Buddy today!
We want to provide an enjoyable and educational experience for our interns. We have a variety of projects available, and are happy to tailor projects based on individual interests/learning goals. We also welcome ideas for special projects and will work with interns to develop these ideas, if feasible. We are currently listing three specific internships (Office and Program Support , Coach and Site Support and Event Coordinator): if you'd like to apply, please complete our Volunteer Application and view the linked descriptions for details on submitting your resume.
As an Outreach Team member you will serve as a Girls on the Run (GOTR) advocate, attending local races, festivals, child and family oriented events and talking about GOTR with enthusiasm. The committee is made up of approximately 20 dedicated, positive men and women of all backgrounds. All are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons and expanding the impact of GOTR in the Bay Area. No prior experience with GOTR is required. We will give you the training and background needed to speak confidently about GOTR. Apply to be on the Outreach Team
The Race Committee is tasked with elevating the Girls on the Run 5K to a higher level through event organizing, promotion and donation solicitation. Volunteers commit to attending scheduled committee meetings on Tuesday evenings and the Girls on the Run 5K event on Sunday, May 14, 2017. We expect committee members to attend all (or most) meetings. Additionally, committee members are expected to attend at least one outreach event and to distribute flyers and postcards in one target neighborhood. Apply to be on the Spring 2017 Girls on the Run 5K Race Committee
Our 10-week programs end with the Girls on the Run 5k. This event is truly inspirational as 900+ girls in 3rd through 8th grades cross the finish line of their first 5K with huge smiles on their faces and a tremendous sense of accomplishment. We need race day volunteers to help with course monitoring, race registration, cheering and medal distribution at the finish line, face painting and games, food and beverage and the water stop.
