Season-End 5K Celebration at Marina Park, San Leandro

San Francisco, CA — On Saturday, May 9, 2026, more than 2,000 girls, coaches, teachers, and parents will gather at Marina Park in San Leandro for the Girls on the Run Bay Area season-end 5K celebration.

Each season, participants in grades 3 through 8 train for a non-competitive 5K as the culmination of an eight-week program designed to build confidence, leadership skills, and healthy habits. This joyful event provides participants with a tangible sense of accomplishment and the empowerment to be the authors of their own stories.

“This is such a joyful and momentous occasion,” said Catherine Muriel, Executive Director of Girls on the Run Bay Area. “Watching the girls cross the finish line with a sense of empowerment and accomplishment is unparalleled.”

Girls on the Run reaches girls at a critical stage, strengthening their confidence and addressing the vital connection between physical and emotional health when they need it most.

The event will be attended by Executive and Associate Board members, and San Leandro Mayor Juan González III, will be on hand to start the waves of runners.
