Meet Our Summer Intern, Ubadi!

Hi! My name is Ubadinaobi Ochigwe Egeonu (Ubadi for short, Badi for shorter), and I try to approach every day as an opportunity to evolve as a person. I'm a rising fourth-year at Stanford University, pursuing a double major in Human Biology and Psychology on the pre-med track. I enjoy experiencing the world as the space between the science of the human experience and the larger systems that shape people's lives and futures, because I believe real, lasting change happens when you learn to understand both.

Growing up in Oakland as the eldest of four, I've always felt a responsibility to lead by example for my siblings. That sense of responsibility shapes how I move through the world. My goal is to reach my fullest potential in everything I take on while helping others reach theirs, and to have an impact that's felt broadly and endures for generations.

That's a big part of why Girls on the Run Bay Area feels like such a perfect fit. In high school, I played a lot of competitive sports; I was even nationally ranked in a few, and those years taught me so much about resolve, discipline, and getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Sports pushed me out of my comfort zone again and again, and I believe qualities like those are some of the most valuable things we can pass on to young girls across the Bay. If I can help even one girl believe a little more in herself and her ideas, that matters to me.

I'm so excited to be part of an organization that has such a positive impact on the kids in the Bay who need it most, particularly youth and other communities who deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated, and I can't wait to pour back into this incredible space.
