Coach Jessica Carey Wins 2026 Giants Community Spirit Award

Three women together with community spirit award

We are thrilled to share that longtime Girls on the Run Bay Area volunteer coach Jessica Carey has been named and awarded the 2026 recipient of the Giants Community Fund Community Spirit Award.

Presented annually, the award recognizes a volunteer who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to service and a “can-do” spirit. Jessica was honored at the San Francisco Giants game on August 12th where Girls on the Run Bay Area also received a $2,500 grant in recognition of her service.

Jessica has volunteered with Girls on the Run Bay Area for more than 13 years, positively impacting at least 200 girls. With humor, empathy, and encouragement, she creates a joyful environment where participants build confidence, work through challenges, and pursue goals on their own terms.

Her mentorship extends far beyond the finish line. Jessica maintains meaningful relationships with former participants as they grow into young adults, with some returning as Junior Coaches or pursuing service projects of their own.

Since 2002, Girls on the Run Bay Area has served more than 30,000 girls through programs that combine joyful movement with lessons that build confidence and essential life skills. Our volunteer coaches make this work possible, and Jessica is a remarkable example of the lasting difference one caring adult can make.

Congratulations and THANK YOU, Jessica!
