Hailey Gunderson, a senior at San Ramon Valley High School, never imagined how much one volunteer role could change her life. What started as curiosity led to a deep connection with Girls on the Run — mentoring girls, motivating reluctant runners with creative games, and witnessing moments of real transformation. Now, as an intern, Hailey continues to champion GOTR behind the scenes, from social media to community outreach. Her story is a powerful reminder of how one voice and one heart can spark confidence and change lives.

Fiona Smeltzer, an intern at Girls on the Run Bay Area, is passionate about fitness and empowering young girls. With a background in sports and rowing, she values the mental and physical benefits of running. 

Last week, Girls on the Run turned up the energy with a three-day coach training at Sports Basement, packed with hands-on fun, interactive challenges, and plenty of snacks—getting coaches pumped and ready to inspire their teams this season!
